Third tandem tour - Geyso20 at the Sprengel Museum Hanover
Das Atelier als Gemeinschaft#Geyso20 - Peter Miller and Thorsten Ruperti
Sprengel Museum Hanover, march 14, 2025
Writing, movements of the key levers of historical typewriters, the curiosity of neglected but ever present perceptions, have connected the artists Thorsten Ruperti and Peter Miller since 2021. This is when their pen pal began; with a question from Ruperti to Miller, about his work Envelope, 2020.
The dialogue tour at the Sprengel Museum Hanover is the first real encounter between the artists, who allow their audience to participate directly in their first exchange: It is about the fascination for the very transparent object "historical typewriter", the "lover" of Ruperti. Both artists buy it at auctions, restore it, use it or photograph it in the most beautiful environments.
The papyrus plant, discovered over lunch, is given just as much attention in the conversation as Rupertis artistic start, which began in 1987 with a deranged dialling system.
We are so excited to see what journeys of discovery the artists will invite us on...The lines they sing on the way to Hanover station could not express their invitation to us more beautifully:
Take on me
(Take on me)
Take me on
(Take on me)
I´ll be gone
In a day or two
a-ha, Take on me, Hunting High and Low, 1985.
